MARTIS VLTORIS Tetrastyle and round-doomed temple of Mars Ultor set on three steps; within, Mars, helmeted and cloaked, standing facing, head to left, holding aquila in his right hand and signum in his left. The temple of Mars Ultor shown on the reverse of this denarius was where, after offering prayers and sacrifices, the soldiers would begin their journey when going on campaign.
